Shanghai Hongqiao Int Airport Second Runway Passed the Trial Test
\

On 15th January, an airbus A330-300 EXPO VOLUNTEER from China Eastern Airline has successfully taken off in a trial test on the second runway at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. It marks that the second runway of Hongqiao Airport has fully possessed flight operation condition after three years construction. Shanghai has also become the first city which has two Airports with 5 runways in total in China.

The new runway will gain acceptance, which is known as “Civil Airport Operation License”, from CAAC this March. It is expected that the new runway will be put into use officially on 16th March. Mr. Fan Ru, the captain of the test flight, who is also the vice-president of China Eastern Airline, holds the airfield lighting products in a very high regard. He believes that the performance of these lights has reached the international standard.

The runway can be operated for large passenger aircrafts including airbus A380. It will help to improve the condition of the rapid increase of passenger flow volume and the serious overload of flight movements at Hongqiao Airport.
