On November 14-16, 2018 the first session of electricians’ professional skill competition of CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) was held in Kunming exhibition center, Yunnan province. The competition was jointly organized by CAAC, Yunnan Airport Group and the National Federation of Trade Unions. The participants were 126 forefront electricians and 42 referees from 42 airports, each with domestic passenger flow greater than 5 million. With the opportunity of gathering together in the competition, the forefront electricians, the referees and the leaders from all major airports made the relationship closer between colleagues of each airport, which created a harmonious atmosphere of competition. At the same time, the spirit of TO BE NUMBER ONE encouraged the competitors all the time to compete earnestly and achieve good results.
The competition consisted of two parts: theoretical examination and practical operation. It was implemented in accordance with the requirements of professional skill standards for electrician of airport navigational lighting. Meanwhile, the questions were set in combination with the actual operation procedures required by airports and the electrical theory of airport navigational lighting. On the basis of basic skill assessment, the emphasis was laid on the professional skills needed for airport navigational lighting and on the application of new products, which reflected the principle of combining the development of modern airport navigational lighting with practical commercial applications. The competitors were tested emphatically on the maintenance of navigational lighting fixtures, on the inspection of insulation resistances and on the maintenance of isolation transformers as well as on the theoretical and technical level of completing the assigned tasks. After fierce competition, a team first prize and an individual first prize were produced, and both would be awarded the May Day labor medals. Among the competitors, Qingdao Liuting airport group won all the first prizes, second prizes and fourth prizes of the individual and team events in the contest and became the biggest winner of the national airport navigational lighting skill competition.
The navigational lights for four simulated runways used in this competition were all provided by Shanghai Airsafe Airport Equipment Co., Ltd, including runway centerline lights, runway edge lights, precision approach path indicators (PAPI), sequential flash lights and elevated approach lights. Due to the fact that most of the airports of participating group actually are using Airsafe's products, the competitor are very familiar with the above lighting fixtures, so the competitor had excellent performance in the actual operation of the competition. The lighting fixtures provided by Airsafe are all the latest types of LED navigational lighting products. Through this competition, all airports have been deeply impressed by Airsafe’s latest LED navigational lighting products, its complete range of product lines as well as its strong capabilities of technical research and development.
