Halogen or xenon light source has been used in navigation aids lights. However, these two type of light sources always have inevitable problem in applications, such as short life, high maintenance cost and performance degrading caused by overheating. With the substantial improvement of LED performance and the rapid development of related technologies, the adoption of LED light source has become the mainstream choice, also the most urgent demand.
The entire system of sequenced flashing lights integrates structure, light, electricity, heat and control, which is the most complicated product in the product line of Airfield Ground Light (AGL), and upgrade of the light source brings a comprehensive upgrade of the entire system. The launch of SFLS-LED complements the most complex part of the product line of LED AGL, thus, Airsafe has become the only Chinese manufacturer, as well as one of the few manufacturers worldwide that can provide a full set of LED AGLs
The flash lamp head of SFLS-LED integrates the unit control board, which does not need to be equipped with the control cabinet. Instead, it is replaced by the unit junction box for convenient installation and maintenance. The main control cabinet of SFLS-LED adopts a touch screen control panel, which is convenient to set up and operate. These innovations have greatly improved the performance and reliability.
In April 2019, SFLS-LED was firstly applied in Tianjin Binhai International Airport, successfully setting a precedent for the first use of LED sequenced flashing Lighting system in China. After 20 months of actual operation, the SFLS-LED system performed well and basically achieved maintenance-free, giving an excellent customer experience to the airport maintenance personnel. After installing the second set in mid-2020, Tianjin Airport has decided to change the other two traditional sequenced flashing lighting systems to LED. Besides, The SFLS-LED was selected for the first runway of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, which achieves the feat to be the first runway with all LED AGLs in China; next, as Beijing Capital International Airport replaced the traditional xenon type with LED, it shows that the LED sequenced flashing lighting system will achieve large-scale applications and definitely be the first choice for users.
