Urumqi Diwopu International Airport is located in Diwopu, the northwest suburb of Urumqi, the
capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is 16.8
kilometers away from the urban area of Urumqi. Together with Kunming Changshui International
Airport, it is one of China's two major national gateway hub airports and is a national first-class civil

China. In July 2022, the national ranking of passenger throughput of Urumqi Diwopu International
Airport rose from 18th in 2021 to 7th. Urumqi International Airport operates a total of 206
