Runway threshold/end lights are used where the runway threshold and the runway end coincide or have to be shown together; different light distributions in the two directions let one fixture perform both the threshold and the end marking functions. The fixture marks the runway threshold toward the approach direction and the runway end toward the runway, which cuts the number of units needed where the two are co-located while keeping the lights clearly identifiable. The fixture uses an LED light source and a light distribution designed for the application; its photometric performance is aligned with the requirements of the corresponding airfield lighting system, giving airport operations a steady, clear and easily identified visual signal.
