The aiming point light marks the position of the heliport aiming point, giving a helicopter on approach a clear visual target and alignment reference. The fixtures work together with the FATO and TLOF lighting, helping pilots establish the correct approach direction and judge where to hover or land. The fixture uses an LED light source and a light distribution designed for the application; its photometric performance is aligned with the requirements of the corresponding airfield lighting system, giving airport operations a steady, clear and easily identified visual signal.

Heliport in-pavement aiming point light

Features

  • Long LED service life, low energy consumption and maintenance-free operation bring substantial economic benefits to the operator
  • A purpose-designed LED lens greatly increases luminous efficacy
  • Strict LED color binning ensures consistent output color
  • Proprietary prism structure and manufacturing process deliver outstanding optical performance
  • Dimming curve matches that of halogen fixtures, complying with FAA requirements
  • Proprietary driver circuit and thermal management greatly improve the reliability and service life of the fixture
  • Power factor above 0.9 keeps interference with the supply network to a minimum
  • Professionally styled housing gives the fixture a clean overall appearance; interchangeable modular components suit the whole range of 8-inch LED in-pavement omnidirectional fixtures; the purpose-designed structure protrudes less than 6.3 mm above grade
  • The flat light-emitting face of the upper cover prevents water build-up and keeps luminous efficiency high
  • The forged, equal-strength upper cover offers good mechanical performance, load-bearing capacity and impact resistance
  • Smooth upper cover without sharp edges protects aircraft tyres
  • The body is corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy with special anodising; all fasteners are stainless steel, suiting the fixture to harsh environments
  • The body is made of a special high-conductivity aluminium alloy for good heat dissipation
  • High-precision machining of every part guarantees dimensional quality and accuracy throughout
  • IP67 ingress protection withstands 138 kPa internal pressure or the water pressure generated by aircraft impact on the optical window
