Elevated Runway Guard Light (Configuration A, High Intensity)

The Configuration A high-intensity runway guard light is used where a taxiway crosses a runway or at the runway-holding position; its alternately flashing yellow light warns aircraft and vehicles that they are about to enter an active runway. The conspicuous warning signal makes the runway entrance easier to recognize in difficult weather, at night and in low visibility, and lowers the risk of a runway incursion. The fixture uses a matched light source and a light distribution designed for the application; its photometric performance is aligned with the requirements of the corresponding airfield lighting system, giving airport operations a steady, clear and easily identified visual signal.
