The final approach and take-off area (FATO) light marks the boundary or key positions of the FATO of a heliport, outlining the area for helicopters on approach, on take-off and while hovering. A continuous, clear line of lights helps pilots make out the extent, the direction and the usable part of the FATO at night and in low visibility.
